Welcome to Romadaily News Radio broadcast. Good evening from the editorial office, I’m Giuliano Ferrigno. Tomorrow is election day for Italians as they choose their representatives in the European Parliament. Polling stations will be open in Strasbourg until 11 pm, giving Italian citizens a chance to cast their vote between 7 am and 11 pm.
In addition to the European elections, tomorrow will also see elections taking place in the Piedmont Region, the City of Bari, Florence, and many other municipalities. Italy will be the last country to close its polling stations at 11 pm, with official results not expected to be released until 11:15 pm. Initial results, based on exit polls, will be published by the European Parliament in the afternoon and will provide a glimpse of the outcome as polling stations close across EU member states.
The first set of country-specific results will be known around 6:15 pm, with the composition of the European Parliament projected based on national estimates, pre-election polls, or exit polls. The second official projection of the night will be around 11 pm, containing official results from some countries but not all, as some like Italy will still be voting at that time. A final projection will be made around 1 am on Monday, June 10, but the final outcome may take a few more days to be determined.
