The prestigious Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, initiated by the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity, offers a substantial prize of $1 million and is announced annually on February 4th.
This esteemed award honors distinguished nominees, which may include governmental officials, NGO leaders, scholars, spiritual guides, and prominent personalities, for their exceptional commitment to human fraternity. The winners are celebrated at an exquisite ceremony held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Significance of the Award
Established in 2019, following a historic meeting between Pope Francis and Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, in Abu Dhabi, where they jointly endorsed the Document on Human Fraternity.
Since its inception, the award has acknowledged individuals from 11 different nations, lauding their philanthropic initiatives across various domains like healthcare, education, community development, refugee assistance, and empowerment of women and youth.
