The Blessing of Consecrated Life: Pope Francis Praises Brazil’s Religious Congress
Welcome to a celebration of dedication and faith in Brazil! The Conference of Religious of Brazil is marking its 70th anniversary with a special congress focusing on “CRB 70 years: Grateful Memory, Mysticism, Prophecy, and Hope.” Pope Francis has sent his warm greetings to all participants, acknowledging the important role of consecrated men and women in building up the mission of the Church in Brazil.
In his message, Pope Francis expressed his gratitude for the commitment shown by religious communities to spread the Good News of Christ. He highlighted the immense gift of the vocation to consecrated life, which enriches ecclesial communion and supports the Church’s mission worldwide.
Safeguarding the Gift of Vocation
The Pope emphasized the importance of safeguarding and nurturing the gift of vocation each day, in order to bear fruit in service to the Church. He commended the choice of the congress’s theme, “Remain in my love,” as a reminder of the need to stay rooted in the love of Christ through prayer and fidelity to the vows of consecration.
Consecrated life, Pope Francis noted, enables individuals to perceive beauty and experience freedom in evangelical poverty, love without possessing in chastity, and victory over anarchy in obedience to Jesus’s example.
Living with Courage and Prophetic Zeal
In closing, Pope Francis urged Brazil’s consecrated men and women to embrace their charisms with mysticism and courageously proclaim the Gospel in a prophetic manner. He invoked the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Aparecida, asking for her blessing and encouraging prayers for himself.
As we celebrate the gift of consecrated life in Brazil, let us be inspired by the dedication and faithfulness of these men and women who serve the Church with love and devotion. May their example remind us to remain rooted in the love of Christ and proclaim the Gospel boldly in our own lives.
