My Journey to Meet Fr. Joseph Kentenich
At the age of 26, I embarked on a journey from Rio de Janeiro to Milwaukee, USA, in 1963. My mission was to meet Father Joseph Kentenich, the founder of the Schoenstatt Movement, to seek answers regarding the letter he had written to the Bishop of Trier. This letter ultimately led to his exile from the Church. Representing a group of seminarians, I was eager to delve into the heart of the matter directly from him.
My educational background in medicine and biological sciences, combined with my experience in basic research, had prepared me for this encounter. Little did I know how profoundly this meeting would impact my life in various aspects.
During my time with Father Kentenich, I was struck by his humility, his joyful demeanor, and his deep connection with God and Mary. Despite facing exile and adversity, he exuded peace and resilience, embracing his circumstances with unwavering faith.
My discussions with Father Kentenich touched on themes such as vocation, spiritual childlikeness, and the essence of the Covenant of Love with Mary. His profound words and actions continue to resonate with me to this day, shaping my spirituality, family life, and apostolate within the Schoenstatt Movement and the Church.
