Short Theatre 2023 returns to Rome from September 3rd to 17th
Rome is set to come alive with the return of Short Theatre 2023, the international festival celebrating contemporary and performing arts. Now in its eighteenth edition, the festival promises a captivating lineup of concerts, DJ sets, dance and theatre performances, workshops, and installations brought to you by artists from around the globe. This year’s event will be the biggest yet, with performances scattered across various venues in Rome, including iconic locations such as La Pelanda – Mattatoio di Roma, Teatro Argentina, Teatro India, Teatro Nazionale, and more.
The theme of this year’s edition is Radical Sympathy, focusing on reshaping familiar concepts to provoke action and mobilization in response to the changing world around us.
Short Theatre 2023 is scheduled to take place from September 3rd to 17th at 15 different locations throughout Rome and beyond.
THE PROGRAM
Kicking off the festival’s preview is a performance by Fred Moten, a renowned poet and professor at New York University, on September 3rd at Teatro Argentina. Moten will present his poetic recital titled “Sounding the Open Secret.”
The festival will also feature PRISMA 2023, a special dedication to choreographer and visual artist Ligia Lewi. This extensive project will showcase Lewi’s work at various venues, culminating in the national premiere of “Still Not Still” at Teatro India on September 16th and 17th.
