Welcome to the Vatican, where prominent research figures and influential young people have gathered for the International Meeting of Sense, organized by Scholas Occurrentes and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean. From May 21-23, discussions will revolve around some of the most pressing issues of our time.
Imagine a unique gathering of rectors from top universities, renowned academics, and cultural figures collaborating to address critical global crises. This three-day conference, part of the University of Sense established by Pope Francis and managed by Scholas Occurrentes, aims to tackle issues such as the impact of technology, the environment, and mental health.
Building on past educational initiatives, Scholas and CAF have paved the way for important dialogues, including the first Laudato Sí School launched in May 2022. This initiative brought together 50 young representatives from Latin America and the Caribbean to discuss pressing environmental and social issues.
In a further stride towards sustainable development, the first World Congress of “Eco-Educational Cities” was organized by Scholas and CAF in May 2023, uniting mayors from Latin America and Europe. These efforts align with Pope Francis’ vision of “integral ecology” outlined in his Encyclical Laudato si’.
As the International Meeting of Sense progresses, the outcomes of these initiatives will be debated and deliberated upon. The final session, set for Thursday afternoon in the Old Synod Hall, will see participants presenting their findings and recommendations to Pope Francis.
Stay tuned for updates and insights from this transformative gathering at the heart of the Vatican.
