After his upcoming visit to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, and Singapore, Pope Francis will embark on another international journey to Belgium and Luxembourg, concluding the month of September in a spectacular manner.
The Vatican Press Office has confirmed the Pontiff’s visit to the two European countries from September 26th to 29th.
“In response to the invitations from the respective Heads of State and ecclesiastical authorities, His Holiness Pope Francis will undertake an apostolic journey to Luxembourg on September 26 and to Belgium from the 26th to the 29th of September, visiting Brussels, Leuven, and Louvain-la-Neuve,” the Vatican statement reads, further mentioning that “the travel itinerary will be published in due course.”
Pope Francis had mentioned a trip to Belgium himself during an interview with Mexican broadcaster N+ in December 2023.
While discussing the canceled trip to Dubai due to bronchitis and potential future travels, Pope Francis explained that, unlike the other trips still in the planning stage, the visit to Belgium was “confirmed.”
