Piazza di Siena Gears Up for Its 91st Edition from 22-26 May
As Rome’s stunning Villa Borghese prepares for the 91st edition of its world-renowned International Horse Show “Piazza di Siena”, anticipation is in the air. This year, the Official International Horse Show is set to take place from 22nd to 26th May, welcoming spectators to experience the thrill of top-notch equestrian competitions within the historic venue’s ancient and natural stands.
This prestigious four-day event showcases elite international riders engaging in traditional riding displays, heart-racing show-jumping, and captivating polo matches. The rider lineup for the upcoming 91st edition of Piazza di Siena stars some of the biggest names in the world of international show jumping.
With 82 participants representing 17 nations, including 20 female and 62 male riders, this edition boasts top-ranked riders like British sensation Ben Maher, Swiss talents Steve Guerdat and Martin Fuchs, and Austrian star Max Kuhner. Italian riders Emanuele Gaudiano and Lorenzo De Luca also hold high rankings on the international stage.
Named after the famed Borghese family from Rome, Piazza di Siena was envisioned in the late 16th century to bring the festive spirit of Tuscany to the city of Rome. Today, it is hailed as one of the most exquisite horse shows globally, showcasing an elegant gala dinner attended by local and international luminaries.
The upcoming horse show will thrill audiences in two distinct arenas within Villa Borghese: the enchanting oval in Piazza di Siena, and the Galoppatoio, hosting various international and national classes. The grand finale on Sunday, May 26th, will feature the esteemed Rome Rolex Grand Prix with a whopping prize money of 500,000€.
With fifty horses and riders competing over two rounds on jumps reaching up to 1.60m, the winner not only claims victory in one of the most sought-after Grands Prix but also secures a place in show jumping history.
