Prepare yourselves for an unforgettable event as Talitha Kum gears up to celebrate 15 years of combating human trafficking at its highly anticipated 2nd General Assembly in Sacrofano, just north of Rome. Delegates from nearly 100 countries will come together to share their stories, listen to esteemed speakers, and honor the survivors who have bravely faced such a harrowing reality.
Hosted at the Fraterna Domus in Sacrofano from May 18-24, 2024, the theme of the Assembly will be “Journeying Together to End Human Trafficking: Compassion in Action for Transformation.” This event will take a synodal, bottom-up approach, encouraging open dialogue and collaboration among participants.
Throughout the Assembly, attendees will engage in discussions, reflections, and sharing to devise strategic solutions to combat the pervasive evil of human trafficking. Testimonies from survivors, young people, and Sisters on the frontlines will shed light on the importance of partnerships and collective efforts to eradicate this modern-day slavery.
The culmination of the Assembly will feature a solemn mass at St. Peter’s Basilica on May 23, followed by the highly anticipated 2024 Anti-Trafficking Awards ceremony at the Augustinianum Auditorium. This event will honor three Catholic Sisters who have demonstrated exceptional courage, creativity, and collaboration in their fight against human trafficking.
Sr Abby Avelino, MM, the International Coordinator for Talitha Kum, expressed her gratitude for the support that enables members to continue their important work. With a focus on God’s love guiding them towards compassion and transformation, the organization remains committed to its prophetic mission.
For those unable to attend in person, all panel sessions from Sacrofano will be live-streamed on the Talitha Kum website. Join us in this pivotal moment as we unite in the fight against human trafficking and work towards a better future for all.
