The Power of Giving: Cross Catholic Outreach Renews Partnership with Vatican
When the leadership of the US-based humanitarian aid organization Cross Catholic Outreach visited the Vatican, it was not just a routine meeting. It was a powerful testament to their commitment to supporting Pope Francis’ global charitable activities. Michele Sagarino, the charity’s new president, and Jim Cavnar, its founder, had the honor of meeting with Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, the papal almoner, before finally sitting down with Pope Francis himself at the General Audience in May.
During their discussions, they reaffirmed their partnership in assisting the Pope’s charitable outreach efforts, which have extended to providing crucial aid in conflict zones like Ukraine, Syria, and Gaza. For almost two decades, Cross Catholic Outreach has been a steadfast supporter of the Vatican’s humanitarian missions, with their work officially recognized as a Catholic charitable endeavor.
Through their collaboration, Cross Catholic Outreach has provided over four and a half billion dollars in humanitarian aid to communities worldwide, encompassing essential needs like food, housing, clean water, microfinance, and education. Their approach involves working closely with local dioceses and religious orders to ensure a deep understanding of the area’s needs and create impactful change for those in need.
Their mission is clear: to mobilize the global Catholic Church in transforming lives both materially and spiritually, all while honoring the teachings of Jesus Christ. By empowering local communities and fostering sustainable development, Cross Catholic Outreach is making a difference one partnership at a time.
