Welcome to the Sanctifying Work of Liturgy
When the sacred liturgy becomes a personal and communal encounter with God, the world around us transforms into a sanctuary. Pope Francis recently met with liturgists from Spain, praising their efforts to bring God’s closeness to all through the sacred Liturgy.
In his meeting with professors and students of the Athenaeum University of Saint Pacian of Barcelona, the Holy Father emphasized the profound significance of the liturgy. He reflected on the Year of Prayer ahead of the 2025 Jubilee of Hope, urging everyone to seek union with the Lord through the means provided by the Church.
Embracing God’s Presence
According to Pope Francis, the liturgy invites us to recognize that the encounter with God belongs to every individual. It highlights the essential connection between God and humanity, emphasizing that man exists for the liturgy and ultimately for God.
However, the Pope cautioned against reducing the liturgy to mere rituals without fostering a deep union with the Divine. He called for an embodiment of fraternal love, humility, and openness to the transformative power of the Cross.
Becoming Living Tabernacles
Furthermore, Pope Francis emphasized the importance of allowing God to shape our being and awaken our spiritual senses. By actively participating in the liturgy, we can nurture and deepen our relationship with the Divine.
Through vibrant and authentic liturgical practices, our communities can become living tabernacles where God’s presence is felt among mankind.
As we embark on this sanctifying journey through the liturgy, may we strive to make each encounter with God a transformative and enriching experience for ourselves and those around us.
