An incursion across the border, with Russia attempting to break through the defensive lines, but Kyiv’s soldiers have held their ground: the statement comes from Ukrainian President Zelensky himself who, on Friday, May 10, posted on social media: “Everything is concentrated in the Kharkiv region, Russian troops have tried to expand operations against Ukraine – we are reinforcing our forces towards Kharkiv, both along the State border and along the front line.”
In the city, several explosions were heard, and an air raid alarm rang out throughout the region.
New $400 million aid package from the US
Confirming the escalation of battles along the entire front is also the spokesperson for the US National Security Council, John Kirby: “Russia is intensifying its offensive in Ukraine – we have confidence in Kyiv’s army.”
He then added: “In the coming weeks, Russia will recruit more soldiers and try to create a buffer zone along the border.”
Meanwhile, the US has launched a new aid package for Ukraine worth $400 million, announced yesterday by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken who stated: “We stand by Kyiv.”
“I am grateful to President Joe Biden, Congress, and the American people for the new military aid package announced today,” Zelensky thanked from social media. “The United States maintains its leadership role in supporting Ukraine, and this has a historic significance.
By countering Russia’s offensive plans, we bring the right peace to Ukraine and long-term stability to the Euro-Atlantic community.”
