Experience French Cinema Magic at Rendez-Vous 2024
The 14th edition of Rendez-vous, a spectacular festival celebrating new French cinema, is set to captivate audiences in Rome before embarking on a journey to multiple Italian cities including Bologna, Florence, Turin, Milan, and Naples. From April 3rd to April 7th, the Cinema Nuovo Sacher in Rome will be at the center of this cinematic extravaganza. It’s an opportunity for local movie buffs to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of contemporary French cinema, spanning from avant-garde to mainstream offerings.
This prestigious event, the biggest in Italy dedicated to French cinema, was conceived by the French Embassy in Italy and is co-organized by the Institut français Italia and Unifrance, the global agency for promoting French cinema and audio-visual content. The festival is helmed by project manager Rémi Guittet and artistic director Vanessa Tonnini.
This year, the esteemed guest of honor at the 14th edition of Rendez-vous is none other than the legendary actress, Catherine Deneuve.
Unveiling the Opening Film: “Ritratto di un Amore” by Martin Provost
Breathtakingly presented in the Cannes Première section in 2023, this film beautifully captures the passionate and artistic relationship between painter Pierre Bonnard and his muse Marthe. Featuring stellar performances by Vincent Macaigne and Cécile De France, director Martin Provost delves into themes of love, art, and life, creating a sensual and melancholic masterpiece.
