Exciting News: Pope Francis to Visit Rome’s Capitol on June 10th!
Get ready for an unforgettable day as Pope Francis is set to visit Rome’s Capitol, also known as the Campidoglio, on June 10th. This exciting announcement was confirmed by the Holy See Press Office, following an earlier statement by Father Massimo Cocci, chaplain of the local Police of the City of Rome.
Welcoming the Pope at 9 am will be Rome’s Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, who recently met with Pope Francis at the Vatican on January 4th. The meeting was described as profoundly inspiring, with the Mayor praising the Pope as a symbol of solidarity, brotherhood, and peace.
A Special Return
This visit will mark Pope Francis’s second time at the Campidoglio, with the first being in October 2020 when he participated in the Community of Sant’Egidio’s annual Prayer Meeting for Peace. It was a moving event, with speeches by Professor Andrea Riccardi, President Sergio Mattarella of Italy, and various religious leaders.
In his address, Pope Francis called for peace and unity, leading to a minute of silence in remembrance of those affected by the pandemic, wars, terrorism, and violence worldwide. The event concluded with an appeal for peace, as children handed out the text to ambassadors and political leaders present.
We can only imagine what impactful messages the Pope will bring on his return to the Campidoglio. Stay tuned for updates and mark your calendars for this historic visit!
