Life has changed drastically in the last few months due to the global pandemic. The situation in Italy and at the UW Rome Center has undergone a significant transformation since my last update. It’s been a challenging journey for us all, adapting to a new way of living and working.
After nearly three months of strict lockdown in Italy, restrictions began to ease gradually in May. Businesses started to reopen with strict safety measures in place, allowing people to slowly resume normal activities. The progress has been slow but steady, with the nation working towards recovery.
At the UW Rome Center, plans are still moving forward. Our academic programs for the rest of 2020 have been cancelled, but we are optimistic about welcoming students back in Winter 2021. The center is undergoing renovations, with new features such as an Exhibit Space and Seminar Room being added to enhance the student experience.
Despite the challenges we’ve faced, we remain hopeful for the future. We look forward to a time when the virus is under control globally, and our lives can return to a new sense of normalcy. We eagerly await the return of our students to the UW Rome Center, ready to embrace them with open arms (from a safe distance, of course).
