If you are considering using Rome’s transportation system, it’s essential to familiarize yourself with it beforehand. Here’s everything you need to know about the Metro, bus, tram, and train lines in Rome.
HOW DO I USE THE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM IN ROME?
The ATAC is Rome’s official transportation system, offering subway, bus, streetcar, and commuter train lines that connect the entire city and its outskirts. While Rome’s subway is one of Europe’s smallest and doesn’t cover all central areas, buses are a better alternative in the city center. You’ll likely use a combination of subway, bus, tram, and walking during your travels. The transport system has limited connections to Rome’s main airports, Fiumicino and Ciampino.
