Don’t Miss Your Chance to Watch Rafael Nadal Train Live in Rome!
Attention tennis fans! The Spanish champion Rafael Nadal will be gracing the red clay court in Rome’s central Piazza del Popolo on Wednesday 8th May as part of the Italian Open festivities. And the best part? The public can watch him train for free!
This unique event, scheduled for 17:30, offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness Nadal’s skill and dedication up close and personal. Known for his dominance on clay courts, Nadal has claimed the Rome title an incredible 10 times.
Rome’s tourism and sport councilor, Alessandro Onorato, expressed excitement about bringing the sport’s magic to both residents and tourists alike. This free tennis display aims to showcase the city’s vibrant energy and attract attention worldwide.
While there were hopes of World Number 2 Jannik Sinner joining Nadal on the court, his withdrawal from the Italian Open due to a hip injury left fans disappointed. Nevertheless, the temporary tennis court in Rome has been buzzing with pre-qualification matches setting the stage for the main event at the Foro Italico.
The red clay court, a joint effort by the city and Federtennis, will remain open until 19th May, offering young players from local clubs the opportunity to train and play.
With expectations of a record 350,000 tennis enthusiasts gracing the Rome Masters, organisers are gearing up for an enthralling tournament featuring over 300 matches on 14 red clay courts. It’s tennis at its finest!
