Join the Race for the Cure to Fight Breast Cancer in Rome
Get ready to lace up your running shoes and join the 2024 edition of the Komen Race for the Cure in Rome on Sunday, May 12th. This annual charity event aims to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer.
The event will kick off with Italian president Sergio Mattarella launching the 25th edition of the race, followed by races in other cities like Bari, Bologna, Brescia, and Matera.
Participants in Rome can choose from three categories: a non-competitive 5-km run, a 2-km walk, or a competitive 5-km race. Before the main event on May 12th, there will be a three-day festival of health and fitness workshops, family activities, and free medical screenings at the Race Village located in the Circus Maximus from May 9th to 11th.
The funds raised through this event go towards funding educational programs and early detection initiatives to combat breast cancer. Registration is open to men, women, and children with a minimum donation of €15.
The Race for the Cure will start at the Circus Maximus at 10.00, passing by iconic landmarks such as the Colosseum and the Baths of Caracalla before finishing back at the starting point. Additionally, this year will also feature the inaugural edition of Rowing for the Cure on the Tiber River.
Thanks to the generous donations and support over the past 25 years, Komen Italia has been able to invest over €26 million in research, prevention, and support programs for women battling breast cancer.
