Ride and Earn: Florence’s Incentive Program for Cyclists
Looking to ditch your car and opt for a more eco-friendly way to get around? Florence has just the solution for you with its new incentive-based scheme aimed at promoting cycling among residents, especially commuters.
The pilot project, named Pedala, Firenze ti premia (Pedal, Florence rewards you), offers cyclists the opportunity to earn up to €30 a month or a maximum of €2 a day.
Open to all residents over 18 in Florence and those commuting to the city for work or study from the greater metropolitan area, the €1.2 million program requires participants to download and register with the Pin Bike app starting May 13.
Upon the official launch on June 3, cyclists simply need to pedal, and the funds will start flowing into their bank account. Commuters who typically use a car but switch to a bicycle will earn more, receiving financial rewards based on the distance traveled within the city limits.
In addition, the top 200 users who accumulate the most points on the app through various “virtuous actions” stand a chance to win a bonus of €100 each month.
